bare and breathe: on writing from the soul

Namaste’! I write poetry, stories, essays, reviews, editorials, screenplays, lyrics… get the idea! Writing is my passion. I Attended Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fl and graduated with an AA in English and then I graduated from Union Institute &University in Montpelier, Vt. with a BA in Writing and Literature and a concentration in Women’s Studies

I was chosen as local artist and featured in the online newspaper  HOWL. I was interviewed and several of my works were showcased (circa 2003). Thanks LLC (now Gateway CC) in Lake City, Fl, where I attended for a couple semesters (prior to transferring to Santa Fe College.  I have won several awards for my poetry and have been published in several Poetry Collections…But want my OWN book(s)! I also have had a song published-but again, want more!

I am passionate about women’s issues, equal rights, civil rights, women’s rights, liberal rights (just about all rights!). I believe in a lot of causes. I like to write about love, pain, drama and romance. In fact, I am pretty passionate about almost anything that is NOT mundane or boring. I write from my soul (cliche’ I know). Most of my work has been published and/or copyrighted (all either or both). My goal is to publish a book of poetry, memoirs, short stories, a novel, novellas, another song (collaborating with someone who writes music…hello, out there?), reviews, editorials….thank you for checking me out!..I will hopefully also be expanding to creating videos integrating pictures and music.

I also love art and especially love drawing people.  I like music, the theater, movies, art and anything that has to do with creating and the arts! I was hesitant about putting my work in the public eye again, but here I am!

So, yes, I’m just breathing now…because I DO  “… feel like I’m naked in front of this crowd, and these words are my diary screaming out loud and I know that you’ll use them however you want to”….This takes a lot. I have so much respect for those who have bared their souls and put themselves and their innermost feelings out there. I have done it before many times but have avoided it for quite awhile now….. so, I must simply bare my soul, stand naked and breathe.

“2 Am and I’m still awake, writing this song

If I get it all down on paper it’s no longer inside of me

Threatening the life it belongs to…

And I feel like I’m naked in front of this crowd

Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud

And I know that you’ll use them, however you want to”; Anna Nalick
