Obsession

There is no rhyme or reason, no excuse that I can find

for this maddening obsession that is torturing my mind

I try to temper my emotions and sometimes I even may

for a moment or two succeed to tuck your memory away

But then it will emerge again, just like an impish child

at the most inopportune of moments, to penetrate my mind

with that crooked lazy smile and that silly boyish grin

that catch my breath in a sigh, and I must let you right back in

your voice is so smooth, it soothes me down to my soul

your touch is so soft that I’m losing control

eyes as deep and true as the mournful Irish sea

one look brings the waves come crashing over me

I dream of you holding me in passion’s warm embrace

and my fingers softly caressing the roughness of your face

When you are near, I feel my soul come alive

For I have been dead, and only you can revive

my heart; but I’m afraid, so terrified of my feelings inside

so strong and deep and altogether consuming, I ache

for what I cannot have, I want so much to take

but to the extent of this obsessive, burning desire?

I want to know you, to be you, to stand in your fire

About sharonsharinginsights

Namaste'! I write poetry, stories, essays, reviews, editorials, screenplays, lyrics.....you get the idea! I love to write. I graduated from UI&U in Vermont, U.S. with BA in Writing and Literature with a concentration in Women's Studies. I was chosen and interviewed as local artist for my writing on local online college magazine HOWL (circa 2003). My writings have been published in several genres and I have won numerous awards for my poetry. I am desirous of having my own collection of poetry and/or other writings published in my OWN book. I am passionate about women's issues, romance, love and a great number of benevolent causes. I am pretty passionate about almost anything that is NOT mundane or boring. I write from my soul (cliche' I know). Most of my work has been published and/or copyrighted (all either or both). My goal, again, is to publish a book of poetry, short stories, a novel, novellas, another song (collaborating with someone who writes music...hello, out there?)....OK more later, and thank you for checking me out!
